Code Compliance and Interpretation
Aiken Engineering has extensive knowledge of the
various engineering codes that regulate the industries
for which they provide engineering solutions. Aiken
utilizes the appropriate industry codes, along with
other analyses tools, to solve tough engineering
issues.
Case:
In a large US city, an improperly installed, and
subsequently modified 42-inch water line connection
was identified. The city had an upcoming outdoor
concert, and needed verification that the connection
was within code. Aiken engineers analyzed the modified
Tee style connection with Finite Element Analysis,
compared the calculated stresses with code allowables,
and quantified the acceptability of the modified
joint. Aiken’s analysis and report assured
city engineers and inspectors that the water connection
was within code and safe to operate at prescribed
pressures. The festival was a success, and Aiken
the unknown hero.
