Design, Analysis, and Equipment Performance
Review
When
critical equipment requires engineering review,
Aiken verifies code compliance and design soundness.
Aiken works with client engineers to ensure appropriate
equipment and design performance.
Case: Lifting 13,000 metric tons is a significant
achievement. Details associated with such a heavy
lift, like column and trunnion connection strengths
require close scrutiny. In this case, Aiken engineers
combined conventional beam elements with shell elements
to model, in detail, the Lifting Point for a Tension
Leg Platform. Aiken’s expertise then was applied
to analyze Finite Element Analysis stresses and
compare the results with appropriate industry accepted
codes. Results determined that the Lifting Point
design was acceptable, or “fit for service”
for the immense loading forces. Aiken has tons of
experience with large-scale operations, consistently
delivering sound results.
